Background of Collaboration Project

In this Project started in April 2000, efforts have been made to make its collaborative researches more complete by conducting "International Forum," a forum organized to obtain advice from the learned outside individuals and provide a place where collaborative research institutes can exchange opinions among themselves.
At the time when the Project was in a preparatory stage in March of the same year, "Advisory Council" for the Collaboration Projects was convened to discuss the direction of the researches. We also conducted "International Forum" where all the participating research institutes and researchers met together. This was an occasion to provide a place for presenting an interim report by individual research institutes on their researches as well as for discussion on the report. We also conducted "Open Forum," an event for public participation three times. Its purpose was to pose questions to the general public and increase their awareness on the themes of the Project: "Aging Society" and "Sustainable Economy and Society."
In February 2002, we conducted the Forth International Forum of Collaboration Projects where each research institutes made a final report on the outcome of their researches to bring the two-year Project to a conclusion. The Project was brought to an end with this forum.
