  The Japanese economy in the last quarter of a century has experienced a long slump after the burst of the economic bubble in the early of the 1990s, so called "lost decade" of deflation. However, the Japanese economy has recovered since 2002 and now stands at important turning point with recovering and overcoming deflation.
  The Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI) in cooperation with the NBER (National Bureau of Economic Research), has been holding international conferences inviting domestic and foreign experts, and discussing the current important policy issues.
This time, the bubble and deflation study group in ESRI has summarized the certain results of their work, therefore, we discussed them at the conference.
