"Increasing Importance of Macroeconomic Policy under Economic Crisis in Progress"

It has been 10 years since the downturn of the Japanese economy. Though there was a sign of recovery, the recent financial crisis has left a large impact on the Japanese economy, which also reverberated to economies around the world. To be able to implement effective countermeasures the need to fully understand macroeconomics and develop new strategies is an absolute necessity.
In order to achieve this, the Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI) established a study group as an International Collaboration Project since FY2008, to develop DSGE models and explore research into inflation expectations. Furthermore in cooperation with institutes such as NBER (National Bureau of Economic Research) and many researchers in the field, it has been possible to hold international conferences on a periodical basis to broaden the discussion from a global perspective on important policy issues.
This conference looks to review and discuss the current research undertaken by ESRI in regards to macroeconomic, and actively explore new policies amidst the worsening economic conditions.
